A service animal is any animal individually trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability such as to guide a person who is blind, alert a person who is deaf, pull a wheelchair, pick up dropped items, alert or protect a person with seizures, provide balance and mobility assistance, among other tasks. A service animal is not a pet.
A service animal is allowed public access, without exception, wherever the general public is allowed access. Some public access places are restaurants, hotels, taxis, shuttles, stores, medical facilities, theaters, parks, health clubs or zoos (among others).
It is a Federal Civil Rights violation to refuse public access to anyone with a service animal.
